Privacy
MakeTheBadge is a badge maker that runs in your browser. The short version: the names, spreadsheets and photographs you put on a badge are never sent to us, because there is nowhere for them to go.
What stays on your device
Everything to do with the badges themselves:
- The names, roles, companies and any other field you type or import.
- CSV files you import. They are read in the browser tab with the File API.
- Logos and photographs you add. They are held as data in the page.
- The design itself, including its colours, sizes and layout.
Your current project is saved in this browser’s IndexedDB storage so it is still there when you come back. That storage belongs to your browser on this device. It is not synchronised, not backed up and not readable by us. Clearing your browsing data removes it, and so does the “Discard it” button in the editor.
PDFs and PNGs are generated on your own machine. Nothing is rendered on a server.
What is measured
We count anonymous product events so we know which parts of the tool are used: that an editor was opened, that a template was chosen, that a CSV import finished with a number of rows, that a PDF was downloaded. Those events carry counts and identifiers the product itself defines — a template id, a paper size, a number of rows.
They never carry badge content. No name, company, role, field value, column header, file name or photograph is included in an analytics event. That is enforced in code rather than by policy: the analytics function accepts numbers and a fixed list of known identifiers, and drops every other string before anything is sent.
What we do not do
- There are no accounts, so there is no email address or password to hold.
- There is no billing, so there are no payment details.
- There are no advertising trackers and no data sold to anyone.
- Your badge data is never used to train anything.
If you need this in writing for your organisation
The practical point for an HR team, a school or an events office is that a staff list, a class register or an attendee list processed here does not leave the device it was opened on. If your process requires that, this tool satisfies it — and you can confirm it yourself by opening your browser’s network inspector while you import a file.
Changes
If this ever changes — if, for example, optional cloud projects are added later — it will be opt-in, it will be obvious, and this page will say so before it happens.
